I had planned on doing this really awesome manicure for Try it on Tuesday this week, but unfortunately, the weather happened. I hear it got up to about 100 degrees here yesterday, and as some of you know I'm on third shift so I sleep during the day. It's roughly ten degrees hotter in my house, and we don't have A/C. Between the heat and just being wide awake for some dumb reason, I slept maybe 4 and a half hours yesterday. So I decided last night was night the time to try some fancy new manicure design or technique, what have you.
Instead, I decided to break into my vintage polish collection which is something I've been wanting to do for awhile now. This particular polish has got to be at least 15 years old, probably older. I don't remember exactly when I bought it nor do I remember ever using it. The brand is Nail Savvy... and the color? Well, I don't know! It has zero information on the bottle: no number, no name... nothing! In the bottle, it's a nice warm chocolate brown color, with lots of sparkle. I'm afraid the sparkle didn't capture very well at all on camera, nor did the color but here are the swatches regardless.
Now I know nothing about the Nail Savvy brand, but I do have 3 of their polishes. I'm assuming they vanished years ago. I have seen a few of these polishes on eBay and other auction sites but I haven't found much info on them so I'll probably never know what this shade is actually called.
The color is kind of interesting. It looks almost black at some angles, at most angles it reminds me of suede. In theory, this is really pretty. In theory. Unfortunately, when photographed, this polish sometimes comes across more green than it actually is (as seen in this next photo.) Brown and green... hmm.. need I say these two do not make a lovely combination?
I will say this much about the polish: I now know I HATE brown polish. Brown has never been one of my favorite colors, but after wearing this manicure for just a few minutes it's been definitely decided: no more brown polish for me! The entire time I was wearing this, I felt as though I had chocolate or something dipped on my nails. It was just weird. Needless to say, this manicure didn't last long. Tonight or tomorrow early morning I will be posting the updated manicure, so check back to see what more I did with this :)
What do you think of brown polish? Do you love it, hate it?
Chocolate brown, I can be without, but some brown, like cafe latte- browns, or more close to nude-browns I love.
ReplyDeleteBut this wouldn't be for me either, to dark.
I wouldn't like those, either... I've never liked peach or tan or any of those colors. Browns just are not my color. I'm not even sure why I own a brown polish now that I think about it.
Deletethat's a stunning color!!
