Try it on Tuesday: Antique polish with Revlon Gunmetal

It's late Tuesday night but I wanted to sneak in a Try it on Tuesday post real quick because I haven't done one in a long time. Today I'm wearing a vintage Revlon Street Wear polish called Gunmetal. No, this isn't the first time I've worn this polish.. I've had it since I was a teenager but it's been a very long time since I tried it out so what the heck. This polish is discontinued, and was released sometime in the 90s. I was really surprised to see some other bloggers have talked about this polish since it is rare. Even more surprised to see one bottle of it selling on eBay for almost $28. I probably bought this baby for a dollar or so back in the day.

The formula is very very thin - it's almost like painting with water. So of course, it is pretty translucent. I used just 2 coats and it did get dark enough for my tastes. I ran out of time, otherwise I probably would have done another coat just to make it more opaque. It is very streaky, but if I'm going to wear a gunmetal grey, this is the polish I'm going to want. I always did love this one, and 15 or so years later I still love it. I did have to do a little bit of touch up because it didn't dry fast enough so that's why my pointer finger nail looks a bit goofy in this first photo.

You can really see how thin it is in this next photo.. I probably should have tried painting it over black or white. In fact though, I really didn't notice how thin it looks until I saw how it looks on camera. The camera definitely makes it more obvious.

I do love this color.. I just wish the formula weren't quite so thin. I'll definitely try it over other colors sometime :) I'm going to update this manicure and hopefully share some updated pictures with you tomorrow! I have quite a few more manicure posts to do since I was on break, plus I have a few product reviews to share with you. Thanks for reading and as always feel free to comment!
