First Christmas Manicure

My first manicure for this Christmas season was inspired by two Christmas songs, and I'm sure you'll figure out quickly where I'm going with it.

Please pardon the lack of cleanup. For this manicure I used Tip Top Nails South Africa Night Rider, and because I couldn't resist breaking out Ornate, I used Zoya Ziv on my accent. I applied 2 coats of each. I was really excited about getting Night Rider to try out because silver is one of my favorite colors. It went on very smoothly. It was rather sheer with 1 coat, but 2 coats was enough for me to be happy with it.

As you can tell, Night Rider is a beautiful silver color, kind of a pewter color. Beautiful, beautiful polish. I have no complaints about this polish.

I then applied 1 coat of Zoya Electra on the accent nail, to complete the silver and gold look. On the remaining nails, I used my Tip Top Nails U Crack Me Up gold shatter. This polish did not have a label on it, so looking at their site, I'm assuming it is Smashed. First of all, I'm a little disappointed in Electra. It's no where near is glittery as my Sally Hansen Confetti, so while it's pretty, it just isn't as pretty as I had hoped. I'm definitely going to have to layer it with some other polishes sometime to see if I can get a similar effect as Confetti :)

I'm also kind of disappointed in the crackle.. maybe it's because I layered it over silver, but it looks more of a mustard yellow than gold. Also, I don't know if it's because I didn't let it dry enough first, but the top coat picked up some of the glitter from the crackle which is actually very pretty. My nails have a very beautiful sparkle to them. Overall, I am very happy with both of these polishes.. the crackle just wasn't quite the shade I was expecting.

As you can see from this picture, I discovered that in the day light, Night Rider has more of a lavender or blueish tint to it that I certainly didn't see in the night. Very pretty.

Here you can see the other weird thing about Night Rider. In certain light, it almost looks matte. It looks very dull and flat in some light.

For my final look, I used the Konad plate M12 and Konad's special nail polish in white.

I used the white because I wanted more of a subtle look.

While I'm mostly happy with each of these polishes, I'm a bit disappointed by the overall manicure. It just didn't turn out quite as pretty as I had imagined it. I think mostly because the crackle just wasn't quite the right color I had planned on. So it is really pretty, just not quite what I expected. I may play with this crackle some more :)

Disclaimer: Tip Top Nails provided me with these items for an honest review. As always, all opinions here are my honest opinion.
