I won these in a giveaway.
This week I've been trying out Sally Hansen Salon Effects polish strips. I won #150 Groove in a giveaway quite awhile ago and am just now getting around to trying them out (I put it off for so long due to my annoyance with most nail strips!) These nail strips are a very bright neon green, which surprisingly didn't bother me as much as I thought it would since I don't typically care for solid colors on my nails.
I would have to say these are the best nail strips/foils/wraps etc. I've used. They're easy to apply, and once they're on, for the most part they stay down. As you can see from my picture, I did rip the accent nail by accident so you do have to be a bit more gentle with them than I was.
There's just a few things which I feel would make these better. I apparently have tiny nails because I used the smallest strips possible for most of my nails and even then a couple of them were much too big for my nails. Because of this, unfortunately the strips did not apply correctly on some of my nails which meant they lifted quickly and only lasted about an hour before breaking off in some places.
As you can see from the pictures, these are supposed to last up to 10 days. Nope, sorry Sally Hansen but not happening. All I did was sit down, watch TV and eat and these strips started coming off, as I mentioned. Here it is day 5 and I still have these on my nails. Not one is unchipped.
Here's how my nails looked by the 4th day.
So as you can plainly see.. nope, definitely not lasting 10 days. I give these a big thumbs up regardless, because nail strips typically last me oh... 5 to 60 minutes. so just the fact that I've had these on my nails for several days makes these a better product than most. I'm not sure I would buy them for myself, but they're fun to play with.
Yikes these are pricey - $10 at Ulta, almost $11 at Walgreens. So no, I won't be buying these. If you can manage to get yourself some for free or at a much discounted price, I think it would be worth it just to try.
Whoa yeah that's expensive, especially if it only lasts 4 days! I don't get why anyone would sell plain green nail strips anyways, when it's a lot easier and cheaper to just paint your nails that color. Glad you had fun anyways!
ReplyDeleteI don't either now that you mention it. I thought it was an odd choice when I got these. Wasn't really too keen on the color, honestly. Loved the color once I actually tried these on though. Still the best strips I've tried!
