Inwhich I finally try out fimo

Some of the items used here I won or were given, others I purchased.

Yes, you read that right.. I am finally trying out some fimo sticks! My mom bought me all of these for Christmas plus the ones I got from Narmai so they're just screaming at me: "Use me, use me!" Alrighty, then.

I started out this manicure with Chrome Girl When In Chrome, which I used for stamping last week.. but I hadn't tried it by itself yet so I just had to. This color is absolutely gorgeous. It did take 2 coats, in part because some of my polishes are starting to separate due to the cold weather and this just happens to be one of them. I forgot to mix it up before I started swatching, so I did have to apply a second coat. Other than that, it applied without flaw. Gorgeous gorgeous silver metallic finish, but what I love about this one is that there is bits of shimmer to it as well.

I'm going to side track for just a second. One of the things about polish that still messes me up to this day is all of the different finishes. Lacquerized has a pretty good post about all of these.. which looking at this list, I believe When In Chrome is a foil which I didn't realize! I'm going off subject again, but is it just me or does anyone else find it odd that Chrome Girl does not in fact seem to have any chrome polish? That really bothers me. OK, back to the subject at hand.

I love When In Chrome, except all of the sparklies which make this such a gorgeous polish make for really messy and pain in the butt clean up. It was just impossible to get all of that microglitter off of my fingers so I didn't really try too hard.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this manicure was actually inspired by one of my old manicures seen here. I love this technique because it's easy, fast, pretty and I love how it looks. So moving on, I topped When In Chrome with 1 coat of Kleancolor Neon Pink, doing just a diagonal. This may look like you have to be really neat and perfect but you really don't. I did slow down and took my time with it a little bit but still, it was no where near perfect.

Lastly, I applied a line of Wing Dust Collections Love, love me do! over the edge of When In Chrome and Neon Pink. Love, love me do! is absolutely one of my favorite glitters to use this time of the year, perfect for Valentine's Day manicures :)

So where's the fimo you want to know? Right? Right? :D

I sliced and placed a couple of fimo butterflies on my nails, and then slathered on some top coat. I really love how this looked and it was so much fun to create. Next time though, I'm going to stick the fimo on with some glue or at least top coat. I didn't do that and so they didn't really last that long.. but then I guess that's to be expected.

I'll definitely be doing a lot more fimo manicures in the future! Thanks to +Narmai Nan and my mom for my fimos :)

  1. How lovely! i really like fimo, but sometimes I think my nails are too narrow and fimo look huge on them. That or I bought ones that are too big, lol!

    1. I know what you mean.. since my nails keep breaking >-< a lot of times it feels like my nails are just too small to do nail art.
