10,000 Steps a Day to a Better You by Sleekly

I received this item in exchange for an honest review.

I'm constantly working on improving myself and doing everything I can to be healthier. Such a challenge when you have chronic pain and my health history. I know many people recommend taking 10,000 steps a day minimum for better health. I have an old pedometer but I never got it to really work correctly, so when I got the chance to review Sleekly's pedometer, I thought why not? Ten thousand steps amounts to about 5 miles, so that's a lot of walking.

Unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed with my results. I do a lot around the house, so I figured I step a lot more than I actually do. The first day I stepped about 8 thousand steps but I did a lot more walking than usual. The next day was equally pretty busy and I stepped about 5 thousand. From there I seemed to average about 3500 steps a day. Pretty poor results and I was amazed at how much I did while taking so few steps. Obviously I'm going to have to work up to this ten thousand steps a day thing, but it's a good goal for me to work towards, I think. I start working out our local senior center tomorrow, so I'll see how my steps work out with that and from there I will work towards 5 thousand steps a day just as my first goal. I hate having to take things so slowly, but you have to when you have chronic pain. I opted not to record my steps on Sunday because that's the one day of the week where I basically do nothing but rest.

Enough about me, here is my pedometer review.

Review:
I found the instructions for this pedometer to be very confusing and difficult to understand. It took me awhile to figure out how to use it, and for the most part I ignored the instructions because they weren't much help. I finally figured out that when trying to set the weight it kept going to the 7 day records instead of the pedometer settings so that wasn't much help. I finally got it to go to the settings to enter my weight which I discovered was in kg so I had to figure out the conversion for that first. I'm not really sure what the distance setting range is for but I think I set that to max. This seemed very inaccurate until I got the weight set correctly. It still misses a few steps every once in awhile or gives me too many but it seems fairly accurate overall.

Once I got everything set up, it was smooth sailing from there. I just put the pedometer in my pocket and started walking. It also comes with a ribbon for stringing the pedometer around your neck, and I opted to tie that to the smaller one just for added length.

I would suggest the only way to improve this product is to make the instructions more clear. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.

This pedometer is $14.95 on Amazon and is available for free shipping on orders over $35.
