Margaret Watson Protect Me (The Donovan Family Book 6)

I received a digital copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

I get a lot of requests from authors to review their books. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to read and review every single request I get. Today I am going to share with you a short review I did for Protect Me by Margaret Watson.

Description
Police officer Mia Donovan is studying for the detective's exam when her captain offers her an assignment – be Finn O'Rourke's personal bodyguard for the next three weeks. He's in town to film a movie, he has a stalker, and the threats are escalating.

Mia isn't interested – she's focused on the looming exam. But her captain convinces her that successfully protecting Finn will look very good on her record when promotion decisions are made. So, reluctantly, she takes the assignment.

Finn isn't the arrogant, egotistical actor Mia expected. There's more than meets the eye when it comes to the 'most hated man in America', Finn's nickname since he cheated on his girlfriend, a beloved pop star.

But his stalker is lurking and the threat is escalating. Although Mia's feelings for Finn are growing, her job is to protect Finn, not fall in love with him.

Review

I don't normally read suspense and this is the first book I've read by the author. Being part of a series, this is definitely a good stand alone novel. I enjoyed the story, although found it to be a bit cheesy, unrealistic yet still entertaining. I was really hooked on it til about the middle of the story when it just seemed to become a bit too repetitive and drawn out. Regardless I do intend to read more from this author and I will recommend it for romance readers.

Silk Nutchello review

I received this item in exchange for an honest review.

Recently I've been trying out a few different web sites for surveys and reviews and what not. Every little bit helps after all and of course I just love trying new things.

I got the chance to review Silk Nutchello, which is a nut milk blend drink. It comes in three different flavors, all of which I wanted to try. I had to pick one so I decided on the rich dark chocolate and walnuts flavor.

If you like almond milk I think you would enjoy this. To me it tastes like chocolate almond milk with an after taste of walnuts. I found myself taking a sip of this off and on throughout the day whenever I felt I needed just a little pick me up or when I wanted a bit of chocolate. After awhile I realized this reminds me a bit of the chocolate brownie snacks my mom would pack in my lunch as a kid. A little familiar taste of my childhood in a cup.

I thought this might be good in my coffee so I tried that. Completely forgetting I don't really like chocolate in coffee so I didn't really care for it like that. I bet you could use it in cookie recipes now that I think about it.

I believe you should be able to find this in grocery stores throughout the country. It was about five dollars normal price at my store for a 48 ounce bottle. I probably won't be getting this again unless I see it on sale. I am curious to try out the other two flavors, toasted coconut and cashews and caramel almonds and cashews.

SimplyPura Argan Oil shampoo review

I received this item in exchange for an honest review.

I've been busy trying out a bunch of new beauty products, and today I have a favorite up for review. I've used argan oil in the past, but I don't recall using it in a shampoo until now. Note: I haven't dyed my hair in months so the last color is working its way out so yes I know my hair looks a little funky. But not so bad :P

Product description:
At simplypura we use only 100% ethically sourced oils made from authentic ingredients and originating from the best region. Our natural shampoos contain both Argan Oil and Prickly Pear Oil and we always choose the best raw products organically grown. All of the Organic Oils that we use are 100% Pure; Additive-Free & Certified by the most known Organic certificate providers like Ecocert and USDA.

Moroccan Organic Argan oil refers to a very rare and precious oil, which is extracted from Argan tree fruits. The scientific name of Argan Tree is Argania Spinosa. Prickly Pear Seed Oil is one of the most expensive beauty oils in the world. Native to Mexico, it can now be found in various arid and semi-arid areas of the world such as Morocco.

It is very important for any Moroccan oil shampoo to contain 100% authentic, organic argan oil in it and not any synthetic conditioners designed to mimic the performance of the real deal.

All of our oils are sourced through sustainable farming techniques, and the ‘Berber’ women who produce it are getting paid a fair wage for their labor. Unfortunately, there are a lot of businesses out there who get their oil through less than sustainable and/or ethical means.

Perhaps this attention to detail is what separates us from all the other competitors!

-Contains authentic organic Argan and Prickly Pear oil, free from synthetic conditioners and parabens
-Manufactured directly from Morocco and produced ethically with no harsh chemicals through fair trade
-Promotes hair restoration and regeneration through essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins
-Nourishes and conditions, tames frizz, preventing split ends making your hair softer silkier shinier

Product Review

Before using this shampoo, my hair was in pretty poor shape due to abuse from a different hair product. I had a ton of split ends and my hair just seemed really dry and lifeless. Here's a picture of my hair before use.

I noticed after about a week of use of this shampoo my hair was no longer damaged. Those split ends were gone! Much repaired, and my hair felt so much softer as well. I definitely love this shampoo for how quickly it healed my hair, and I'm going to keep it on hand just in case my hair gets damaged again. I did use this every day for about a month, but in the future I think I would use it alternatively with my regular shampoo. In the time I used it, I used a little less than two thirds of the 200 mL bottle so with my long hair, this size bottle doesn't last long.

The bottle was wrapped in plastic wrap when I received it, to ensure it did not spill. The plastic wrap did lift the ink off of the bottle label. This shampoo smells wonderful - like a tropical sun tan lotion. I love the smell and enjoy using it just for that. I really have nothing bad to say about this product, although I wish it were available in a larger bottle.

This shampoo is $10.99 on Amazon.com and available for free shipping on orders $49+.

 Review

I've been using this oil to treat bug bites and heat blisters. I've tried a few different oils in the past, and I can honestly say this oil works the best at relieving the itch. I applied it just once or twice a day, and the itch vanished. It worked even better than traditional anti-itch medicines. From now on, this oil will be my go to oil for itch relief, and I highly recommend it for that use.

This oil has a very strong and unique smell. It seems familiar, but I can't quite place it. I think it reminds me of St. John's Wart. It does leave sort of a turpentine color behind on the skin, but I did not notice any staining at all. Edit: I used some thieves oil last night and I think that is what it reminds me of a little.

The bottle does have a cap as well as including an eye dropper. I found out the hard way not to try to use the eye dropper in place of the cap immediately - the bottle was so full it over flowed! So it's good to know they don't skimp on the amount of oil.

This oil is available on Amazon.com for $14.97 for a 4 ounce bottle.

Born Pretty Store Feather water decals review

I received this item in exchange for an honest review.

I was looking over my old posts the other day and I realized it's been almost a month since I last did a manicure, yet I have a bunch of goodies still sitting here needing reviewed. WHAT? A month? I don't know where the time goes. I knew it had been 2 weeks but I seriously thought that was all. Time flies when you have a lot going on, I suppose.

So today's manicure I actually started last week - but then never finished so I decided to do something completely different with it and I'm glad I did because I love how it turned out.

Today I will be reviewing these feather nail stickers made by Hibiscus Nails and sold by Born Pretty Store.

I started with one coat of Cover Girl Black Heat on my pointer and pinky fingers. On the remaining fingers I painted one coat of Wet n Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange, then I used it again to top each nail with a second coat. I ended up with a really pretty foil look on each nail.

I let my nails dry, then cut out some of the feather stickers, dipped them in water for a few seconds, and lastly applied them to my nails. To finish off, I used one coat of Chrome Girl Top Coat. I did not have any melting issues with these decals, yay! I did not apply the decals to the nails I used Black Heat on.

While I didn't have melting issues, these decals are pretty thin so they stuck to my fingers pretty easily. Unlike other decals, these were easy to place on my nails and then readjust if needed.

These decals are much more transparent than I realized they would be, so while they did blend in with my polish quite a bit, it actually come out looking really pretty. It almost has like a faux tortoise shell effect, which I love. The foil polish turned out to be perfect for these stickers, in my opinion. It just looks so pretty. I may have to keep that in mind next time I use these again!

As you can see though, the design is still pretty noticeable, even the orange colors. I feel like this would be a great manicure for Autumn. As hot as this summer has been so far, I'm almost ready for Autumn already so maybe that was my subconscious mind at work :P

These decals are $2.90 at Born Pretty Store and are available in 4 different patterns. I received pattern number HN-053. World Wide shipping is always free!

You can also use my coupon code QTX31 to get 10% off your purchase from Born Pretty Store. I do believe this applies to normally priced items only, however.

Be sure to check out their new nail art supplies
and they have a bunch of nail art supplies on special, and even more at the low price of only 99 cents! Mirror or chrome nails have been really popular lately, so check out the options from BPS.

Review

Winslow didn't seem to like this oil much at first. The directions state to pump some of the oil over the pets food, which I did and it just sat there for several days uneaten. So I tried putting it on a separate plate, and surprise surprise, Mr. Finicky likes it like that. I give this to him now about every other day. After not quite a month of use, the 16 ounce bottle is maybe half way gone, maybe a little less. This has to be kept stored in the fridge and since I don't give it to Winslow every day, if I do forget he will let me know he wants more by rubbing his face against the vegetable oil bottle (or licking it - old habit.) Once I started giving him the oil on the plate, he would actually let me know he wanted more after just 12 hours or so! Obviously too soon for him to have more, but apparently he approves of it.

Too much of this oil might cause some diarrhea but we didn't have that problem. His stools were getting a little too soft but not diarrhea. So I just cut back and started giving him the oil every other day instead of every day as I had been doing. Winslow has very long fur, so between shedding for the summer and his dry skin, a lot of it does get eaten. I feel better giving him this oil knowing his fur gets passed through his system easier, so he isn't as constipated as he used to be.

This oil has definitely improved his dry skin issue as well. He still has a few flakes every now and then but it isn't the huge chunks of dead skin I used to get when brushing him. His fur feels a bit softer, as well. Nor does he seem to be pulling out his fur as much. I'm hoping with prolonged use, this will improve even more.

I also noticed a definite increase in his energy. Winslow is only a few years old so it's not like he's an old man but he's definitely not a kitten either. I now have to take a few minutes every day to make sure to play with him. I didn't have to do that prior to the oil.

Other things I like about this oil is that it is wild, and not farm raised, fish oil and of course it contains all of the healthy fats such as Omega 3. Of course I love that it's made in the USA. My only concern with this oil is that it's stored in an aluminum container, which of course aluminum has been found to cause many heath issues with humans so I would assume it would be the same for our pets. Regardless, I will recommend this.

Paw Choice Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil for Dogs and Cats is available on Amazon for $24.95 and ships free with Amazon Prime or orders over $49.
