I have nothing to disclose.
For so many months I went just reading books for review which is great and all and I did enjoy most of the books. However recently I just haven't felt like reading much. I went so long without reading just for the fun of it that I guess it was kind of becoming a chore. CM Owens is the exception to that rule. I love her books and her writing is so easy and fun to read. No more what mood I'm in I enjoy her work. If you enjoy the romance genre you have to read the Sterling Shore books. They are just the best and some parts are literally laugh out loud funny. I've been reading a few different books lately but Owens has had three new releases over the past two months so I thought I'd share them with you.

EVE
What’s the most selfless thing you’ve ever done? What price tag would you put on the ability to save the ones you love?
They say the worst decisions are made by the desperate or the fools.
I was desperate enough to make a foolish decision to save my family. The cost? Me.
They may be a motorcycle club, but in all honesty they’re really an elite unit of criminals who just happen to drive motorcycles. They’re a business. An organization. A fully functioning army…
What’ I’ve learned? They work in the gray area; life and death is real; and everyone wants everyone dead. Okay, so maybe that’s dramatic… No. No it’s not. It’s legit.
I prepared for the worst, fully anticipating hating my new life. Turns out, I finally found out where I belonged. Oh, and I discovered I’m a little twisted or crazy. Maybe both.
Drex Caine, the man without a conscience, didn’t ruin me the way I thought he would. Instead, he made me feel like I was living instead of just waiting to live. And I can never go back to the way things used to be.

Please note: Book 1 does end on a cliffhanger, but book 2 has the conclusion and will be released March 28, 2016. After book 2, the rest of the series can be read as stand-alone novels without cliffhangers and will have different main characters featured.
Review
I wasn't sure about these books at first after reading book one. There were so many things such as the criminal aspect and drugs which I did not like. Also I'm probably the only Owens fan who does not enjoy the sex scenes. I actually like her books for the stories themselves. In PoD one there was a lot of sex so it was almost a smut book to me. Though I understand the reasoning for all of it it was just a bit too much.
I tried PoD Two regardless because well I am an Owens fan. I enjoyed the second book much more. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

Some people make death beautiful... but we made life ugly...
Our story isn't for everyone.
Most people will probably hate it. Most people will probably hate us. I stopped giving a damn about what others thought a long time ago.
Like I said, our story isn't for everyone. It isn't pretty. It's not sweet. It's not packaged neatly with a bow on top. No. Our story is painful, maybe even a little dark, but it's real. Somewhere under all the pain lies something beautiful. It's buried deep, so good luck digging it up.
Our story might be ugly, but sometimes you don't appreciate beauty until you've seen the worst.
It's real.
It's pure.
It's raw.
Most importantly, it's ours.

Review
This book was so incredibly difficult to read. One of the main characters had a brain injury so for me I could relate to this story so much. It was actually strange reading it because it made me so much more aware of my own little odd behaviors which I've taken for granted over the years. I've gotten so used to them as odd elements of my personality in part due to the brain injuries that they've become normal to me even though I suppose they are not. I expected to enjoy this book and I definitely did but I did not expect it to touch me on such a personal level. I can normally read her books in a couple of days. Pieces of Summer took me about a week to read just because it was so emotionally difficult to get through. I think people would benefit from reading this just to get an understanding of what life is like to various degrees with brain injury. Each injury is different of course but Owens nailed so much of it with this book. The feelings of being a burden to my loved ones is something I personally struggle with even to this day. So difficult.
Property of Drex 1 is free. The others are not but Owens does have a lot of other excellent books which are free as well if you're interested in getting a taste of her work. You can find her books wherever ebooks are sold. I believe most of her books are available in hard copy as well.
