Julep Review

Julep provided me with a complimentary Maven Intro box for review! I chose the American Beauty box because I liked the colors available at that time. As always, all opinions stated here are my honest opinions.

I just love how they package their shipments. The packaging is very secure to protect the polishes, but it's also in good taste! I love the black and pink theme with this box. Speaking of shipping, my box took about 3 days to get to me; pretty quick shipping, and of course, their shipping is always free so you really can't beat that.

Here's what was inside my box!

2 manicure spacers, their "The best Pedi Creme Ever!", Renee, and Eva.

I actually meant to use the spacers when I did my manicure, but then totally forgot. I'll definitely remember to try them out next time. I've been using the Pedi Creme at night before bed the past few days. The directions claim you should "Expect noticeable results in just 1 to 2 uses." I typically forget about using lotion, so my feet are pretty rough and dry. After 3 uses, they're still pretty rough, but they are definitely smoother. It has a nice smell, and it's not too greasy. The Pedi Creme is priced at $22 for a 60 mL, 2 fl oz. container. Way out of my price range, so unless I come across another good deal I won't be buying it.

I had zero problems with application of the polishes. None. They both applied almost perfectly with just 1 coat! I wish all of my polishes were as easy to work with as these. Eva was a little thin in some spots, but not enough to warrant a second coat. It's a gorgeous raspberry creme polish, and I just love the color.

Can you believe that's just one coat? Not so much as a streak!

I decided to do acid wash nails, based on Nail Art 101's tutorial. 1 coat of Eva, 1 coat of top coat, then 1 coat of Renee. So please pardon the pink edges around Renee in the photo! Renee is a really pretty light lavender creme, described by Julep as lilac. This is one of my favorite shades of purple, so I'm thrilled to have an excellent polish in this shade. I didn't realize at the time, but I guess I didn't get my ring fingernail very smooth so please pardon that goof. Definitely my mistake!

Here's the final look! I'll post a bunch more photos on my Facebook page. I don't want to clog this post down with photos. I love this technique, and I'll definitely be doing it a lot more!

I held off posting this for a few days because I wanted to give the polishes the 2 day test: most of my polishes seem to start chipping after just 2 days. These were no different; a little bit of chipping after 2 days, but it wasn't until day 3 that they started chipping pretty badly. It definitely seemed to last better than my other polishes, however.

Thank you, Julep! I really love both of these polishes, and I'm very happy with them both.
